2008 International Oil, Gas, and Petrochemicals Exhibition
Date: September 15–18, 2008
Venue: Rio de Janeiro, Brazil
The Rio Oil & Gas exhibition, organized by the Brazilian Institute of Petroleum and Natural Gas (IBP), was founded in 1982 and is held every two years. It is a large-scale and influential oil and gas industry exhibition in Latin America and one of the most important international oil and gas exhibitions. Rio de Janeiro, as the host of the exhibition, is also a key oil and gas producer in Brazil, accounting for 80% and 50% of the country's oil and gas production, respectively. Over 3,500 enterprises are directly or indirectly engaged in business related to the oil and gas industry in the local area, and the oil and gas industry has become an important pillar of the region's economy.
