Swing Check Valve

A swing check valve ensures one-way flow by using a disc that swings on a hinge to allow fluid in and automatically closes to prevent backflow. It protects pumps and motors from reversal and prevents leakage. The valve features an internal swing arm structure, with a spherical joint connecting the arm and disc for slight positional adjustments. Available in various sizes and flange configurations, swing check valves are essential for preventing backflow and ensuring controlled fluid movement in systems.

What is a Swing Check Valve?

  • A swing check valve is equipped with a single disc. Under the force of the flowing medium, the disc automatically opens or closes around a fixed hinge pin. When the medium stops flowing, the disc closes under its own weight. The entire operation process is automatic and requires no manual intervention.
  • KOSEN swing check valves feature a simple structure, fewer components, convenient maintenance and repair, and a low failure rate. A full-open disc design is adopted to provide a larger flow area after the disc opens, resulting in low fluid resistance and a high flow coefficient.
  • A counterweight or damping structure can also be applied to reduce water hammer impact during disc opening and closing.
  • Check valves are installed in pipelines to prevent reverse flow of the medium and to ensure one-way flow within the piping system only.
